This pill is round and white and has no markings on either side. Even over the counter medications seem to have some sort of marking on them.

From Drugs.com:

All prescription and over-the-counter (OTC) drugs in the U.S. are required by the FDA to have an imprint code. If your pill has no imprint it could be a vitamin, diet, herbal, or energy pill, or an illicit or foreign drug. It is not possible to accurately identify a pill online without an imprint code.

There are actually about 100 different kinds of over the counter medications/supplements that match this description. However, the most common one that I see is Aspirin. Most companies have their logo imprinted on the side. But, generic/store brands do not.
As a health care provider, I strongly advise you NOT to take anything that you are unsure of. When in doubt, throw it out is a good rule to follow.
Actually throwing it out isn't a great idea either, because it is bad for the environment and hazardous to humans and animals that might stumble upon it. To discard old or unused medications, contact your pharmacy. Many of them have a depository with the sole purpose of safely destroying medications. In my area, CVS pharmacies have this service.

sharon - with no markings, there is no way to know for sure what it is, no matter what friends or whoever may say. As mentioned before, if you found it on a child or teen, and want to absolutely find out, your local police dept may be able to get it to a lab to be tested. However, if someone has given it to you for recreational use, flush it down the toilet. If something is unable to be identified, it is not worth the possible reactions, problems. Let us know what you decide to do... it could be helpful to someone else. Best of luck...

I would say if its not marked don't take it! It's just one pill and if it came from yours or another Childs possession, ask where it came from. Be gentle about it. If it was given to you or a friend, get rid of it! People don't understand that yes one little pill could very much harm or even kill someone! Even if it was some type of antibiotic. I have a friend that was almost killed by taking something they happened to be allergic too! All medications are marked by the FDA because it's the law! People are making pills such as ex, and alot of others! These most of the time don't have marks and if they do it's not what a drug company would use! If your concerned that a child is involved then take it to the police so they can figure it out so who ever sold or gave this to a child can be stopped! I hope it's just an old aspirin that rolled around in someone's pocket and the mark got worn off! I hope this helps! Nanimal

What you have is either a nutritional supplement or illegal. All medication sold in the usa has to have id markings. There is probably no way of identifying it, unless someone happens to be familiar with that pill. My time release melatonin is a small round white pill with no markings.

More than likely it is some kind of supplement like a vitamin or mineral, if you are in the US. I have B vitamins that are white round and no marking, neither does my melatonin, neither does my zinc supplements.

what it could be is a type of narcotic pill that came with a colored safety coating on it that someone who is abusing has sucked or washed off in order to shoot it, ie. IV abuse thus making it look white and blank. maybe

Hello Factfinder
Do you mean that you cannot use the pill finder any more? Personally I have never used it but if it is no longer operational then it is useful to know.

GreenBayBoy - Welcome to the DC site. We are glad you are here!! one thing you are right about - users will go to great lengths to get a "high". I am on Fentanyl patch, which once was a pouch filled with medicine. In the state of Georgia, they are no longer available as "users" were poking holes in pouch to draw out the med to "shoot, and others were actually chewing them for hours, to get more, faster. Speaking only for myself, only true druggies go to these lengths. Chronic pain sufferers may take extra, but usually don't mess with the med itself.

Is there a website you can upload a picture and ask people what a pill is if there are no markings on it?
