Instant Pot Hard Boiled Eggs 5-5-5 ~ Easy to Peel - Gather in my Kitchen (1)

I am finding that I love my Instant Pot pressure cooker more and more the more I use it. Making hard boiled eggs in an Instant Pot is quick and easy.

Not only is it quick and easy, but you end up with beautiful and perfect hard boiled eggs that are perfect for dishes such as deviled eggs.

If you landed on this recipe by mistake and you don't have a pressure cooker, but are wanting easy to peel eggs, I also love making steam hard boiled eggs on the stovetop for easy-peel eggs.

I find when we have fresh eggs from our chickens, it can be really hard to peel the shells. Luckily, by using the Instant Pot, it doesn't matter how fresh our eggs are, the eggs shells come off so easily.

5 5 5 Eggs

You might be wondering why they're called 555 eggs. It's because you cook at high pressure for 5 minutes, do a natural pressure release for 5 minutes and stick in a water bath for 5 minutes.

This 555 method works perfectly to cook hard boiled eggs that are just right and are easy to peel.

Tips for Instant Pot 555 Eggs

  • The first time I made eggs using the 555 method, I forgot to set a timer after my eggs were done cooking. I couldn't remember how long my eggs were in there, but I did get green yolks by not taking them out right away. Make sure to set a time so you don't make this same mistake.
  • If you don't have ice for an ice bath, you can use cold water. Just make sure to replace the water in your bowl after it starts to warm up. You may need to replace the water a couple times to keep it cold.
  • I like to crack my eggs one at a time and then put them back in the water as I crack the next egg. I find letting them soak for a minute or two makes it easier to peel.
  • I always find peeling hard boiled eggs submerged in the bowl of water easier. Or, sometimes I like to peel them under a small stream of running water.
