Are you in love with Gen V as much as I am? Season 2 of the The Boys spinoff series is confirmed – and this is what we know so far about it.

Gen V premiered on Amazon Prime at the end of September 2023. The show was a huge hit, and of course, a Season 2 was confirmed not that long after. But what do we know about Gen V Season 2? When will it come out? What might it be about? Here is what we know so far about the next installment, as little information there is about it right now.

What Is The Gen V Season 2 Premiere Date?

At the time of updating this in June 2024 there is no set release date for Gen V Season 2.

While the first season was a part of the 2023 TV schedule, I doubt that the second season will be a part of the 2024 TV schedule as production (which we’ll get into down below) has really only just begun.

The Gen V Season 2 Cast

While there has been no official announcement on who is going to be coming back for Season 2 of Gen V, we can, at the very least, expect that most of the main characters will return. These include:

  • Jaz Sinclair as Marie Moreau
  • Lizze Broadway as Emma Meyer / Little Cricket
  • Maddie Phillips as Cate Dunlap
  • London Thor and Derek Luh as Jordan Li
  • Asa Germann as Samuel "Sam" Riordan

Back when Season 2 was confirmed, the cast looked excited when the news came out.

A post from the Gen V’s X (formerly Twitter) page showed all the cast members that we love cheering for the news that Season 2 has been confirmed:

Another person who was excited about the news that Gen V is releasing another season was Eric Kripke, the co-developer of the series and the creator of The Boys universe as a whole. He posted to his own X page celebrating the news, saying that the new series was on its way:

I dunno what f*cking sicko keeps a cat in a bag, but it’s out! #GenV #Season2 on its way!! And watch #SoldierBoy in tonight’s ep on @PrimeVideo! @genv @TheBoysTV @JensenAckles #TheBoys @SPTV https://t.co/dxOspLUYirOctober 19, 2023

Someone we also know who has joined on for Season 2 of Gen V is Hamish Linklater, according to Variety in June 2024. The actor, primarily known for his role in Midnight Mass, will be playing the new Dean of Godolkin University, named Cipher.

Chance Perdomo Will Not Be Re-Cast

Tragically, in March 2024, Chance Perdomo passed away in a sudden motorcycle accident. The Gen V account on X posted about his passing, saying that they are determined to “pay respect” to his passing and that the character he played on Gen V, Andre Anderson, will not be recast:

They also say that they have taken the time to “recraft” the storylines of Season 2 to better honor Chance. Erik Kripke even spoke about their decision not to recast him in an interview with TV Line in June 2024:

First, it's just so unbelievably tragic, and my heart goes out to his family. We're not trying to replace him because we can't. We're playing the character's death on the show. So it's very heavy and it's really emotionally difficult for the cast. And we're just trying to honour Chance as best we can.

The Gen V Finale Will Hand Off To The Boys Season 4 – And Then The Boys Will Hand Off To Season 2 Of Gen V

Not much is known about Gen V Season 2 in terms of story, but what we do know is that the finale of The Boys Season 4 is going to tie into it.

In an interview that Kripke did with Entertainment Weekly in October 2023, he confirmed that the finale of Gen V's first season would tie into The Boys Season 4, which just premiered in June 2024. And that the the finale of The Boys Season 4 would directly tie into what Season 2 of Gen V would be about:

I don't think it's a spoiler to say that, by the end of season 1 of Gen V, there's a handoff to season 4 of The Boys. Then whenever we break season 4 of The Boys, there will be a handoff to the hopeful season 2 of Gen V.

This was reported before Gen V was given its second season, so now, it's even more set in the cards.

Sophom*ore Year Will Be “Wild”

The only bit of news we have about the story – other than the handoff – is that the second season of Gen V will take place during the character's sophom*ore year and that it'll be a good time.

In a joint statement released by Amazon Prime regarding the renewal, both Michele Fazekas and Eric Kripke said that the second season of the series would be "wild, with all the twists" and take place the next year of school:

We couldn't be happier to make a second season of Gen V. These are characters and stories we've grown to love, and we are thrilled to know people feel the same! The writers are already working on the new season—sophom*ore year is gonna be wild, with all the twists, heart, satire, and exploding genitalia you've come to expect from the show.

I mean, it's not that surprising in a world where there's stuff such as the intense moments of "Herogasm" and so many other strange instances like oceanic bestial*ty happening. At this point, I expect to see some crazy stuff all the time. Gen V will be going down that same route. There were plenty of wild and WTF moments from the first three episodes.

Kripke further said this in that June 2024 TV Guide interview above, saying that Season 2 is “intense” and that it was fun to find the legs of the second season:

“It's really intense. It's fun to sort of find your legs in the second season of a show and really start digging into the story and the characters.

Production Has Started

The last thing we know is that production for Season 2 of Gen V has officially started. Derk Luh, who plays Jordan in Gen V, shared a post on Instagram of his trailer door in May 2024, officially saying that production on the second season has begun:

This just makes me even more excited for the crazy stories we are about to endure.

What are you looking forward to the most about Gen V Season 2? While it's undoubtedly a reasonable amount of time away, we can at least look forward to the information to come – while I binge through the best original shows on Amazon Prime to somehow help my anticipated heart. I need to know what happens next!
